Dear Sir,
Floods devastate not only human lives but also countless street animals. While the government sets up relief camps to provide shelters, food and medical care for affected people, stray dogs and cats are often overlooked.
As floodwaters submerge streets and neighbourhoods, these animals lose both their shelter and their only source of food. Unable to express their suffering, they wander in search of safe refuge, often enduring hunger, exhaustion and fear. Constant exposure to torrential rain and contaminated water leaves many weak, sick, or injured. Their plight reminds us that compassion should extend to every living being.
Therefore, alongside human relief efforts, the government, local authorities, animal welfare organisations, and citizens should work together to provide temporary shelters, food, clean drinking water and basic veterinary care for street animals. A truly humane society is one that protects both people and animals during times of crisis.
