Nepal Flood Disaster: A Time for Solidarity and Humanity

The devastating floods in Nepal, with their tragic loss of lives, displacement of communities, destruction of homes and infrastructure, and disruption of livelihoods, have caused profound grief and suffering. I extend my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and express my solidarity with the people of Nepal.

At this critical moment, immediate humanitarian assistance is essential. Rescue and relief operations, emergency medical care, food, clean water, temporary shelter and other basic necessities must reach affected communities without delay. Particular attention should be given to vulnerable groups, including children, older people and displaced families.

The disaster also highlights South Asia’s vulnerability to floods, landslides and other climate- and weather-related hazards. Regional cooperation in disaster preparedness, early-warning systems, emergency response and resilient infrastructure should therefore receive greater attention.

Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries should stand beside Nepal during this difficult time. Natural disasters know no borders. Humanity must come before national boundaries.
