Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Mohammed Amirul Haque on Sunday thanked the Chinese Ambassador for reiterating the Chinese government’s keen interest in cooperating on the introduction of a ‘bullet train’ service along the Dhaka"Chittagong economic corridor, as well as actively considering greater market access for Bangladeshi products in China.

He said China has long been Bangladesh’s largest trading partner and has made significant contributions to the country’s economic development through increasing investment, technology transfer and participation in key infrastructure projects.

He expressed optimism that Chinese engagement in Bangladesh would increase manifold in the coming days in areas such as infrastructure, energy"particularly green energy"manufacturing, steel, RMG backward linkages, technology transfer, regional connectivity and agriculture, bringing shared benefits by leveraging the complementarities between the two countries.

The CCCI president also requested the ambassador to make cordial efforts to encourage Chinese businesses to invest in Chittagong, citing the port city’s strategic geographical location and its potential to become a thriving industrial and international multimodal logistics hub for the country, the region and beyond.
