A joint team of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested two alleged drug traffickers with 3,950 yaba tablets during an anti-narcotics drive in Senbagh early Tuesday.
The suspects were intercepted while allegedly transporting the contraband on a motorcycle at Sebarhat Madhyam Bazar on the Feni"Choumuhani highway around 2:30am. The team also seized five mobile phones and the motorcycle.
The arrestees were identified as Saiful Islam, 39, of Mohidipur, and Nazrul Islam, 41, of Middle Iarpur, both under Kabilpur Union in Senbagh upazila.
According to the DNC, the operation was carried out based on information obtained from previously arrested suspected drug traffickers, leading investigators to the motorcycle-based yaba trafficking network operating between Chattogram and Noakhali.
Deputy Director of the Noakhali DNC Subrata Sarkar Shubho said Saiful is believed to be a key member of the syndicate and is listed as a top drug trafficker in Senbagh. He faces nine narcotics cases currently pending before the courts.
