Rubaiyat Hossain's 'The Difficult Bride' to premiere at Venice Film Festival

Writer, director and producer Rubaiyat Hossain's fourth feature film, The Difficult Bride, has been selected for the Orizzonti Competition at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

The film will have its world premiere at the festival, scheduled to be held in Venice, Italy, from September 2 to 12.

The Difficult Bride will be the first feature-length film from Bangladesh to compete at the Venice International Film Festival.

Set around Mayfair, a historic beauty salon in Dhaka, the psychological horror film follows Zaineen, a young woman who arrives at the salon to prepare for her wedding but gradually finds herself drawn into a mysterious world shaped by beauty, the body, faith, memory and fear.

Zaineen Chowdhury Karim plays the lead role, while Rikita Nondine Shimu and Sunerah Kamal appear in supporting roles. Azmeri Haque Badhon and Dameer Khan make guest appearances. The cast also includes Shatabdi Wadud, Saberi Alam and Mohammed Bari.

Reacting to the selection, Rubaiyat Hossain thanked the film's actors, crew members, co-producers and collaborators for their years of work, dedication and support. She also expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and sought prayers for the film's success.
