Madrasa teacher accused of raping student in Lalmonirhat

A madrasa teacher has been accused of raping a 12-year-old student at a hifz madrasa in Aditmari upazila of Lalmonirhat. The victim’s father filed a case against the accused teacher with Aditmari Police Station.

According to the case statement, the victim was a residential student of Madrasatu Tahfizil Quran O Diniya Hafezia Madrasa in Paschim Velabari Namurir Par area. The accused teacher, Md Shahjalal Haque, 23, allegedly called the child to him on the pretext of asking for a head massage around 12:30am on July 21 and assaulted him. The teacher allegedly threatened the child not to disclose the incident.

The child later informed his family after returning home in a distressed condition. Family members went to the madrasa with locals, but the accused teacher was not present there. He later returned to the madrasa on July 24, where locals allegedly questioned him.

Aditmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmus Sakib Sajib said a case was filed based on the victim’s father’s complaint and the incident is being investigated. Legal action will be taken after the investigation, he added.
