Police on Saturday recovered the hanging body of a young man from ‘Sudha Sadan’ the abandoned Dhanmondi residence of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Dhanmondi Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Imdadul Islam confirming the matter and said that the body was recovered around 11:00 am from the house on Road No. 5 in Dhanmondi.
The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Md Shakil, a resident of the Shibpur Tali Office area of Jigatala in Mohammadpur.
The OC said police were alerted by local residents after an unidentified young man was found hanging by the neck inside an abandoned room of ‘Sudha Sadan’. Officers rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue in the afternoon for an autopsy.
According to the victim's family, Shakil had been struggling with drug addiction. His wife reportedly left him three to four months ago due to his addiction, after which he had been living as a vagrant at different times.
