BTEB seeks clarification within 7-day 

Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) has issued show-cause notices to 621 vocational educational institutions for failing to enroll students over a prolonged period, warning suspensions of their admission activities and revoking of their teaching approvals, unless satisfactory explanations are submitted within seven working days.

According to a BTEB notice published on Friday, the institutions include 443 SSC (Vocational) and 178 Dakhil (Vocational) institutes operating under the board. The notices have been sent to the heads of the respective institutions.

The board said that a previous notice had been published on its website asking the institutions to explain by July 22 why their admission activities should not be suspended from the 2026�"27 academic session and why their approval to conduct academic programmes should not be cancelled or withdrawn. While some institutions responded, many failed to submit any explanation within the stipulated deadline.

The latest notice directs the remaining institutions listed by the board to provide written explanations within seven working days. Failure to do so could result in the suspension of student admissions and the withdrawal of permission to continue academic activities.

The board said the measure is intended to ensure accountability and maintain the quality of vocational education by taking action against institutions that remain inactive or fail to comply with regulatory standards.
