Boyfriend cahrged for death of JnU student

The investigation into the death of Jagannath University student Prattasha Majumdar Othoi has concluded that sustained mental abuse by her boyfriend, Yasin Majumdar, drove her to “take her own life”.

The suspect’s lawyer, however, claims Yasin has since died after suffering a heart attack.

Othoi’s body was found at her rented home in Nandalal Lane in Dhaka’s Laxmibazar on Apr 29 last year.

A day later, her father Pranab Majumdar filed a case at Sutrapur Police Station accusing Yasin of abetting her alleged suicide.

Yasin, then employed as a waiter at the Zamindari Bhoj restaurant in Lalbagh, was arrested the same day and later released on bail. �" bdnews24
