
Veteran actor Ahmed Sharif will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural New York Bangla Film Festival in recognition of his contribution to Bengali cinema.
The festival will run from July 30 to August 2, with film screenings taking place over the first three days and the main event and award ceremony scheduled for August 2 at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center in New York.
A total of 10 films, including feature films, documentaries and short films, will be screened. Featured titles include Naya Manush, Deyaler Desh, Shikar, Bishwasa Koren Bhai, Concert for Bangladesh, Bilai, Ishpit, The Eternal Journey, American Dream and Eid Mubarak.
Organized by Priyajon Films and Lemon Studio with support from the American Bangladeshi Producers Association (ABPA), the festival will present awards in 20 categories for Bengali films released between 2023 and 2025.
Special honors will also be presented to Bioscope Films for promoting Bengali cinema globally and Star Cineplex for its contribution to modernizing Bangladesh’s cinema exhibition sector.
