‘Black Panther 3’ is coming

Marvel fans have a reason to celebrate as the studio has officially confirmed that Black Panther 3 is in development and will hit theatres in 2028. Actor David Johnson is set to take on the iconic role of Black Panther, portraying Prince T’Challa II, the son of the original hero T’Challa.

According to the announcement made at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con, Johnson will introduce a new chapter in the Black Panther franchise as Wakanda’s next protector. Marvel has scheduled the film’s worldwide release for December 15, 2028.

The story will explore how T’Challa II, first introduced as a child, grows into his role as the new guardian of Wakanda. Ryan Coogler will return as director, while Letitia Wright will reprise her role as Shuri and Winston Duke will return as M’Baku.

The first Black Panther film featured the late Chadwick Boseman as King T’Challa. Following Boseman’s death in 2020, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saw Shuri take on the mantle of Black Panther. The film also introduced T’Challa II, the son of T’Challa and Nakia.

David Johnson previously earned praise for his performances in films such as Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk. With Black Panther 3, he is now set to carry forward one of Marvel’s most celebrated superhero legacies.
