The first poster of 'Thikana Bangladesh', a feature film inspired by the story of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team during the 1971 Liberation War, has been released, officially launching the film's promotional campaign.
Directed by Anam Biswas, the film stars Arifin Shuvoo and Nusraat Faria in the lead roles. The cast also includes Rezwan Parvez, Khairul Basar, Irfan Sajjad, Azad Abul Kalam and Shatabdi Wadud.
The poster was unveiled on July 25, commemorating the day in 1971 when the Swadhin Bangla Football Team played India's Nadia Ekadosh, becoming the first Bangladeshi football team to compete abroad carrying the national flag.
Funded by the government in the 2019-20 fiscal year, the film portrays the role of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team in raising international awareness and support for Bangladesh's Liberation War through exhibition matches.
Director Anam Biswas said promotional activities have begun ahead of the film's planned release later this year, expressing hope that audiences will embrace the untold story of the team's contribution to the country's struggle for independence.
