681 misinformation cases in 6-month; The Daily Observer records only 2

The data published by Rumor Scanner shows that several of the country's leading and widely circulated media organisations appeared on the list. 

However, compared with many of the major outlets, 'The Daily Observer' recorded only two instances of misinformation during the period.

According to the statistics, The Daily Inqilab topped the list with 21 misinformation cases, followed by The Daily Ittefaq with 19. Jugantor and BD24 Report each recorded 14 cases, while Bangladesh Times had 13, Kalbela 12 and Rupali Bangladesh 11. 

The report also found 10 cases each in Boishakhi TV and Barta Bazar. Jamuna TV, Ekattor TV, DBC News, Manabkantha and Shomoyer Alo each had nine cases. Somoy TV, Bangladesh Pratidin, NPB News and BD Today each recorded eight.

Other media outlets with seven misinformation cases included Channel 24, Amar Desh, Ajker Patrika, Daily Sun, Khoborer Kagoj, Face the People, The Daily Campus, The News, Bangla TV, Dhaka Times, Dainik Sokal and Dhaka Today.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star, Kaler Kantho, Jago News24, Desh TV, Desh Rupantor and BanglaNews24 each had five cases. Samakal, Janakantha, bdnews24.com, Global TV, Channel i, NTV, Ekhon TV and Naya Diganta each recorded four cases.

The report also listed one misinformation case each for Prothom Alo, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Bangladesh Television (BTV), The Business Standard, BBC Bangla, Deutsche Welle, UNB, Bangladesh Betar and New Age, among others.
