‘Integrated effort underway to build clean, safe Khulna City’

KHULNA, July 28: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju on Tuesday said an integrated effort involving all stakeholders was underway to build a clean, safe and liveable city. 
He urged physicians and all concerned to remain vigilant and responsible as dengue infections have begun to rise.

He made the remarks at a seminar titled "Current Dengue Situation and Updated Management" was held at the conference room of Khulna Medical College Hospital to raise awareness and strengthen preparedness against the growing dengue outbreak.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Bangladesh Society of Medicine and the Department of Medicine at Khulna Medical College.

The KCC administrator said prescriptions for dengue patients, the supply of essential medicines and mosquito control activities have already been intensified. Field-level operations are being conducted twice daily to address emerging problems promptly, with the aim of reducing dengue infections and easing pressure on hospitals.

Describing water-logging as a major challenge, the administrator said continuous efforts were being made to resolve the problem and significant progress had already been achieved.

He added that from tomorrow, authorities would launch more extensive and strengthened dengue prevention measures across the city.

Convener of the Khulna chapter of the Bangladesh Society of Medicine Prof. Dr. Paritosh Kumar Roy presided over the seminar.

Among others, Principal of Khulna Medical College Prof. Dr. GolamMasud, Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital Dr. KaziAinul Islam, Vice-Principal Prof. Dr. Syed Amanul Islam and Deputy Director Dr. Sujat Ahmed addressed the programme as special guests.

Member Secretary of the Bangladesh Society of Medicine, Khulna chapter, and Associate Professor of Medicine Dr. Sheikh Moazzem Hossain delivered the welcome address.

Assistant Professor of Medicine Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Associate Professor Dr. Md. NazmulKabir and Dr. Mohammad Kabir Ul Islam presented keynote papers on dengue and its updated clinical management.
