35 illegal fishing nets seized in Rajbari

RAJBARI, July 28: Under the leadership of Goalanda Upazila Fisheries Officer Anwarul Islam Pilot, the Upazila Department of Fisheries and Daulatdia River Police in a joint operation have recovered 35 illegal Chinese gillnets and current nets worth about Tk 1.05 lakh in an abandoned state in a 5-kilometre area at various points of Munshi Para on the Padma River from 8 am to 1 pm on Tuesday.

The seized nets were later destroyed by fire in front of the public on the banks of the Padma River. The operation of the River Police and the Department of Fisheries to protect fish resources and aquatic animals will continue.
