
PATHARGHATA, BARGUNA, July 28: Former MP from Barguna-2 (Patharghata-Bamna) Constituency and veteran politician Golam Sarwar Hiru has passed away at around 1:30 am on Tuesday while undergoing treatment at the capital’s BIRDEM Hospital. He was 76.
His wife and former chairman of Kalomegha UP Begum Nur Afroz Happy confirmed the death.
Family sources said that he was suffering from various physical complications due to old age. He was initially admitted to LabAid Hospital, but later when his condition deteriorated, he was taken to BIRDEM Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
Golam Sarwar Hiru was the chairman of Kalomegha UP three times in a row, the chairman of Patharghata Upazila once and the MP from Barguna-2 Constituency twice. Leaders of various political, social and cultural organisations expressed deep grief at his death.
