8 projects worth Tk 14,041 crore get ECNEC nod

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved eight development projects with an estimated total expenditure of Tk 14,041.21 crore. Among these, three are new initiatives while five are revised projects.

Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman revealed the information on Tuesday, July 28 during a weekly media briefing held at the conference room of the Press Information Department (PID) at the Secretariat. He stated that the projects were approved in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Tarique Rahman.

According to the briefing, Tk 10,494.21 crore of the total cost will be financed from the government's own funds, while the remaining Tk 3,550.44 crore will be sourced through project loans.

The approved projects include the Universal Social Infrastructure Development Project-2, the Greater Dinajpur District Integrated Development Project, and the Rural Road Maintenance and Employment Project under the Local Government Ministry.

Other approved projects encompass the Construction, Renovation, and Development of Disaster Shelters; the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway; Development of the Power Distribution System in Sylhet Division; Evaluation and Development Well Begumganj-5 alongside Exploration Wells Begumganj-6 and Sunetra-2 Drilling; and the project for Upgrading Kidney Dialysis Centers to 50 Beds at Medical College Hospitals and Establishing 10-Bed Centers at District Headquarter Hospitals.
