Jamaat demands cancellation of Shamsul's EC job 

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Tuesday demanded the immediate cancellation of the contractual job of Shamsul Alam as Additional Secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat, alleging that the government is making politically motivated appointments to constitutional, autonomous and government institutions.

The demand was made by Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar at a press conference held at the Al-Falah Auditorium in Maghbazar, Dhaka.

Porwar alleged that the government had failed to fulfil its commitments to state reform after assuming office, including ensuring political neutrality in public institutions and implementing the verdict of the referendum based on the July Charter.
