Police are not the muscle force of any particular party or group, said Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday.
He stressed that the force must establish itself as politically neutral, humane, professional and service-oriented to earn public trust.
He made the remarks while addressing the concluding parade ceremony of the first phase of the 27th Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) Batch-2026 as the chief guest at the parade ground of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, at around 10:30AM.
The minister said the current government is pursuing a policy of 'zero tolerance' against corruption and urged police officers to perform their duties with honesty and transparency in line with that policy.
