Lightning kills farmer at Biral

BIRAL, DINAJPUR, Aug 3: A farm labourer has died after being struck by lightning in Biral Upazila of the district.  

The incident occurred on Monday at 11:25 am in the village of Biral (Jharpukur), under Union No. 05 of Biral Upazila. The deceased was Md Helal, also known as Barku, 28,, son of Md Khadimul Islam.  

Helal had just finished drawing irrigation water from a BMDA deep tube-well on his own land and was on his way home when a sudden lightning bolt severely injured him.  

Local residents rushed him to Biral Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor pronounced him dead. 
 
His body is currently in the morgue of Biral Upazila Health Complex.  

At the time of filing this report at midday, thana police were conducting the necessary legal procedures.
