Bangladesh Maritime University Observes 'July Mass Uprising Day-2026' with Due Solemnity

Bangladesh Maritime University (BMU), located in Pallabi, Dhaka, observed July Mass Uprising Day with due solemnity and dignity. To mark the occasion, the University organized a series of programmes in remembrance of the martyrs and in honour of those injured during the July Mass Uprising.

The programme commenced with the inauguration of an art exhibition titled ‘July on Canvas’, organized by the Bangladesh Maritime University Photography Club. The exhibition was inaugurated by the Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University, Rear Admiral Dr. Khandakar Akhter Hossain, NBP, NUP, ndc, psc, PhD. On the occasion, he toured the exhibition and highly appreciated the students’ creativity, artistic expression, and patriotic spirit reflected in their artworks. He also distributed prizes among the winners of the exhibition.

Later, a discussion programme was held at the University auditorium, where the memories of the July Mass Uprising were recalled and its historical significance was highlighted. The speakers paid profound tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the uprising and called upon all to be inspired by their ideals and patriotism in building an equitable, humane, and prosperous Bangladesh. They also emphasized the vital role of educational institutions in instilling the spirit and values of the July Mass Uprising among the younger generation.

The programme was attended by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Deans of the faculties, faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the University.

As part of the programme, financial assistance was provided to BMU students who were injured during the July Mass Uprising. Prayers were also offered for the eternal peace of the souls of the martyrs and the speedy recovery of those who were injured.

Through these commemorative programmes, Bangladesh Maritime University paid profound tribute to the martyrs, expressed solidarity with those injured during the July Mass Uprising, and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering patriotism, humanitarian values, and national consciousness among the younger generation.
