West Bengal minister condemns attack on Shakib’s House

West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh has condemned the attack on the Magura residence of former Bangladesh cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan, describing the incident as “inhumane.”

Speaking to journalists in West Bengal on Thursday, Ghosh said, “What is happening there is inhumane. I hope peace will return and the rule of law will be restored.”

The remarks came a day after unidentified individuals allegedly poured petrol on Shakib’s house in Magura and attempted to set it on fire following his virtual participation in a press conference held in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Responding to a question on whether the political situation in Bangladesh could affect West Bengal, Ghosh said neighbouring countries, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka, were facing political instability. He also alleged that attempts had been made to create unrest in India with outside inspiration but expressed confidence that such efforts would fail.
