Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that countries assisting the United States will face "severe consequences" unless they cease their support, while reaffirming Tehran's full control over the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued the warning in a statement on Thursday, saying any attempt to support what it described as an "aggressor power" would bring serious repercussions, according to Middle East Eye.

The IRGC also reiterated its claim of complete control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints for global energy shipments.

"The Strait of Hormuz is our territory, and the sailors of the IRGC Navy have full control over it. No outsider coming from thousands of kilometres away will be allowed to interfere here," the statement said.

The IRGC further declared that the strategic waterway would not be reopened as long as the United States continued what it called interference, exaggeration and threats against regional maritime navigation.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and renewed concerns over the security of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and gas exports.
