Israeli forces carried out a second consecutive day of air strikes in southern Lebanon, targeting the town of Mansouri following an explosion near Majdel Zoun that killed two Israeli soldiers, Al Jazeera reports.

Residents reported widespread destruction, damaged homes and fresh displacement as the violence intensified despite ongoing US-backed ceasefire talks in Rome.

Israel said the strikes were carried out in response to alleged violations of the ceasefire agreement. Hezbollah has not claimed responsibility for the explosion that killed the two soldiers.

Meanwhile, negotiations in Rome have shown little progress, with Israel maintaining that Hezbollah must disarm before any further withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon.
