The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved a proposal to purchase one cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte. Ltd. through a direct procurement method. The price of LNG has been set at $21.55 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
The CCGP meeting was held online via Zoom on Friday (August 7), a public holiday, with the Adviser to the Ministry of Finance and Planning in the chair. It was the eighth meeting of the committee in the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The meeting was informed that one cargo of LNG would be purchased from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte. Ltd. on a government-to-government (G2G) basis for delivery on August 11-12, 2026.
One LNG cargo contains 3.36 million MMBtu. At a price of $21.55 per MMBtu, the total cost of the cargo will be approximately $72.408 million, or $72.41 million.
Meanwhile, no decision was taken on a proposal to approve the purchase of LNG from Gunner USA LLC on a G2G basis for the period from 2026 to 2038, as the Energy and Mineral Resources Division withdrew the proposal from the meeting.
