Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-9 arrested a drug peddler along with 46 bottles of foreign liquor and a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw from Bishwambharpur upazila in Sunamganj district.
The arrestee was identified as Al Amin, 20, son of the late Abdul Majid, a resident of Paschim Meruakhala village under Bishwambharpur upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, an operational team of RAB-9, CPC-3, Sunamganj conducted a drive on the Palash Bazar-Dhanpur road in Paschim Meruakhala area under Dhanpur union on Friday (August 7) night around 8:45PM.
Sensory presence of the elite force, a man attempted to flee after alighting from a CNG auto-rickshaw. However, the RAB team detained him on the spot.
During primary interrogation, the arrestee admitted to having foreign liquor in his possession.
Following his statement, RAB recovered 46 bottles of foreign liquor packed inside white and khaki-colored cartons from inside the CNG auto-rickshaw and seized the vehicle.
The arrestee confessed that he collected the foreign liquor from the border areas of Sylhet and kept it in his custody to sell in different parts of the country.
A case was filed against him under the relevant sections of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
The arrested person and the seized evidence were handed over to Bishwambharpur Police Station for further legal action.
RAB-9 stated that its intelligence surveillance and anti-drug drives will continue to implement the government's zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
