'Ramayana' is film of the millennium, deserves an Oscar: Maharashtra CM

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised director Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming mythological epic Ramayana, calling it the "film of the millennium" and expressing hope that it would win an Oscar.
Speaking at the inauguration of Prime Focus Studios on August 6, Fadnavis lauded the movie's ambition, scale, and vision.
He stated that he would be deeply disappointed with the Academy Awards if the film failed to win an Oscar.
"It’s not a film of a decade; it’s a film of a millennium," Fadnavis remarked while addressing the event.
The Chief Minister has consistently built anticipation for the project, expressing confidence that it will showcase Indian storytelling and filmmaking to global audiences.
Earlier at the Waves Summit in Mumbai, Fadnavis recalled being amazed by the production quality while touring the set alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He previously emphasized that the project sets a global benchmark for presenting traditional stories to newer generations.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a cinematic adaptation of the ancient Indian epic featuring a large ensemble cast.
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, and Sunny Deol in lead roles, alongside Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal, Vivek Oberoi, and Arun Govil.
The epic will be released in two parts. The first installment is scheduled to hit theaters on November 6, while the second part is slated for a Diwali 2027 release.
