Dhaka board records highest SSC pass rate, madrasa lowest

Dhaka Education Board has recorded the highest pass rate in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations, while the Madrasa Education Board posted the lowest.

The overall pass rate across the 11 education boards stood at 62.25%, with Dhaka board recording 71.63% and the Madrasa Education Board 55.49%.

Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon announced the results at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.

Among the other boards, the pass rate was 65.42% in Cumilla, 66.27% in Jashore, 63.67% in Rajshahi, 59.48% in Chattogram, 60.35% in Barishal, 58.33% in Sylhet, 58.05% in Dinajpur, 57.39% in Mymensingh and 58.20% in the Technical Education Board.

A total of 116,676 students secured GPA-5 this year, compared with 139,032 last year. The overall pass rate also declined from 68.45% last year.

Across the nine general education boards, the average pass rate was 64.05%, down 3.99 percentage points from 68.04% last year.

A total of 1,857,344 students registered for this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations. Of them, 930,305 were boys and 927,039 were girls.

Among the candidates, 1,418,398 appeared for SSC examinations under the nine general boards, 304,286 for Dakhil under the Madrasa Education Board and 134,660 for SSC Vocational under the Technical Education Board.

The examinations were held at 3,885 centres, with students from 30,666 educational institutions taking part.
