Judge killed as car crashes into parked truck in Jamalpur

A judge was killed and a private car driver injured when their car crashed into the rear of a parked truck in Jamalpur Sadar upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as AKM Samiul Haque, 27, a civil judge at the Islampur court. He was the son of AKM Fazlul Haque of Netrokona Sadar upazila.

The accident occurred around dawn near Lahirikandi Bazar on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway.

According to police and local sources, the car was heading towards Jamalpur at high speed when it rammed into the rear of the truck parked beside the road. The front of the car was badly damaged, leaving the judge dead at the scene.

Locals rescued the injured driver and took him to a hospital.

Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmus Sakib said the accident occurred early Monday. Police recovered the judge’s body and sent it to a hospital. An investigation is underway.
