We will move forward together, regardless of SSC results: Mahadi Amin

Prime Minister’s Adviser and spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Mahadi Amin has said the government will stand by all students and move forward with them regardless of whether they achieve good, poor, expected or unexpected results in the SSC and equivalent examinations.

“We will move forward together with everyone, regardless of whether the results are good or bad, expected or unexpected,” he said at a programme marking the publication of the SSC and equivalent examination results at the Secretariat on Monday (August 10).

Mahadi Amin said students had been assessed according to their performance in the examinations and urged everyone to congratulate those who had achieved good results.

“Those who have done well have earned recognition for their hard work. Their families are proud of them, and we are proud of them too,” he said.

At the same time, he said students who had failed to achieve their desired results should not consider it the end of their lives.

“The government will stand by them in the same way and help them move forward,” he said.

The adviser said the government would take a constructive approach towards institutions and students, encouraging educational institutions that performed well while identifying shortcomings in others and working collectively to address them.

“We want to identify the problems wherever they exist, find ways to resolve them and improve the quality of education through coordinated initiatives,” he said.

Mahadi Amin said the education sector had suffered extensive damage during the previous 16 years and that the government was undertaking reforms in the sector.

“We are making changes, additions, removals and reforms to the education system. However, it is not possible to implement all the changes in the academic curriculum in a single academic year,” he said.

He said several changes would be introduced in the curriculum in the upcoming academic year, including the addition of four new textbooks.

He also highlighted a number of initiatives aimed at engaging students beyond traditional classroom learning.

According to him, around 2.2 million students participated in various activities, including football tournaments, while educational institutions across the country took part in innovation and startup competitions.

He said tree plantation programmes had also been carried out at educational institutions from the primary to higher levels.

The government was also working to expand teacher training and improve facilities for teachers, he said.

“Under the leadership and direction of the Education Minister, we are working on how sports and cultural activities can be integrated into education and how technology can be better integrated into the education system,” Mahadi Amin said.

He acknowledged that it would not be possible to transform the country’s institutional structure within a few months after what he described as 16 years of deterioration.

“An institutional structure that has deteriorated over 16 years cannot be transformed completely within five or six months. But we have the utmost sincerity, and we have everyone’s cooperation,” he said.

He expressed optimism that the desired changes would be achieved through dialogue, consultation and broader engagement in the coming days.

Mahadi Amin also urged the media to highlight students’ achievements and recognize educational institutions that performed well.

“Highlight our students. Encourage those who have achieved good results and recognise the institutions that have performed well. At the same time, let us identify the problems together and work together to resolve them,” he said.
