India has invited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for a bilateral visit and to attend the BRICS Summit, official sources confirmed.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal disclosed the matter during a weekly press briefing in New Delhi on Tuesday (August 11).
He stated that letters were dispatched to the Bangladesh Prime Minister on two separate occasions.
Responding to a query regarding the invitation to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Randhir Jaiswal said, "Yesterday, our High Commissioner held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Issues of bilateral interest were discussed during the meeting."
"Regarding the invitation you mentioned, we have invited him for a bilateral visit and also to attend the BRICS Summit in Delhi. We will share further updates on this in due course," the MEA spokesperson added.
