The Khulna University (KU) administration has formed a five-member investigation committee to probe whether any of its teachers are involved in a secret plot to bring ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina back to the country.
The university issued an office order signed by Acting Registrar Professor Dr. S M Mahbubur Rahman on Monday. KU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Harunur Rashid Khan confirmed the formation of the probe body.
According to the office order, recent media reports and various sources indicate that 404 teachers from 22 public universities are part of a secret network working to return Sheikh Hasina. The committee was set up with official approval to investigate whether any teacher from Khulna University is involved in such covert activities.
Professor Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Dean of the School of Science, Engineering and Technology, has been named head of the committee, while Student Affairs Director Professor Dr. Md. Salauddin will serve as member secretary.
The other members of the committee are Education School Dean Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Jabbar, Law School Dean Professor Dr. Md. Nasif Ahsan, and Social Science School Dean Professor Dr. Sheikh Sharafat Hossain.
The university administration has directed the committee to complete the investigation and submit a detailed report within one month.
