
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 511 people in 24 hours during regular operations across the capital, police said on Sunday.
DMP Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehdi said 49 cases were filed at different police stations during the operations.
Of the arrested, 39 were from Ramna Division, 33 from Lalbagh, 51 from Wari, 62 from Motijheel, 72 from Tejgaon, 126 from Mirpur, 50 from Gulshan, 67 from Uttara and 11 from the Detective Branch.
Police recovered two foreign-made pistols, three magazines, 15 rounds of ammunition, 1,403 yaba tablets, 98.565kg of cannabis, 1 gram of heroin and four bottles of foreign liquor during the drives.
They also recovered a computer, six mobile phones, 80 SIM cards and seven bank ATM cards.
The DMP said legal action against those arrested is underway.
