An AI-powered “Auto Fine System” is set to be introduced on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway from Tuesday (August 18) to detect traffic violations and improve road safety.
According to the Highway Police Headquarters, the system will use AI-powered cameras to detect violations including speeding, illegal parking and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Once a violation is detected, case details will automatically be sent to the registered vehicle owner via SMS. Fines can then be paid through mobile banking services following the prescribed procedure.
Highway Police Additional DIG (Media) Muntasirul Islam said the technology would enable authorities to quickly detect traffic violations and help strengthen traffic discipline and road safety.
