A gas supply shortage has caused long queues of vehicles at CNG filling stations across Dhaka, disrupting commuters on the first working day of the week.
Since Sunday morning, vehicles have been waiting for hours at several stations due to low gas pressure. Some filling stations have also remained closed because of insufficient supply.
Drivers said the shortage was making it difficult to reach their destinations on time.
A driver waiting at a CNG station in Tejgaon said he had to wait in a long queue before getting gas and later found that the station had run out of supply when he returned.
Another driver said they often have to wait two to five hours for gas, forcing them to spend much of the day moving between stations.
Station owners said they were unable to meet demand because of the supply shortage and were uncertain when the situation would return to normal.
