Businessman arrested over model Ridhika's suicide

A businessman was detained over model Ridhika’s suicide on Saturday night (August 15) as a case was filed over abetting the suicide of the model.
Police arrested the businessman, Hafizur Rahman, from capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area. Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mazharul Islam confirmed the arrest.
Earlier, the OC said police recovered Ridhika's body hanging from a ceiling fan in an apartment in Bashundhara Residential Area around 6:00 AM on Saturday.
She was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where attending doctors declared her dead. Police initially suspected it to be a case of suicide.
According to family members, Ridhika was in a relationship with a man. She reportedly had an altercation with him during a video call early Saturday and ended her life while still on the call.
Following the incident, Ridhika's mother filed a case accusing the individual of abetting her daughter's suicide.
