Malini Sharma, who now runs a farmstay in the Sahyadri Hills, has revealed why she stepped away from acting and the public spotlight after her debut film, ‘Raaz’.
After her appearance in ‘Raaz’, Malini became an overnight sensation. She later stepped away from the limelight and worked behind the camera for some time before focusing on raising her children.
Malini, who has since built a loyal following on Instagram, recently interacted with fans on social media and addressed questions about her decision to leave acting.
When a fan asked why she had disappeared from the industry, Malini said, “Honestly, I didn’t disappear as it is made out to be. I worked behind the camera for a while then my children came into my life and I was busy taking care of them.”
Asked by another fan to return to the big screen, she replied, “Let’s see, Kismet mein hoga,” meaning “when the time is just right.”
Malini also revealed that becoming an actress had never been her ambition.
“I never had the ambition to become an actor. Raaz just happened and I went with the flow. After the release, having the spotlight so bright on me, I was not sure about my plans. So I decided to slow down,” she wrote.
Malini was one of the most recognisable faces of the early 2000s. She gained widespread popularity through the television show ‘C.A.T.S.’ and her role in ‘Raaz’. She also featured in several music videos, including the popular song ‘Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag’.
