Shuttle train services of Chittagong University (CU) resumed after nearly five hours on Monday as floodwater on the railway tracks receded.
A shuttle train reached the campus from Sholoshahar at around 12:30pm, allowing services to resume.
Earlier, two shuttle trains that left Battali Station for the university at 7:15am and 7:40am were stranded at Sholoshahar Station after water accumulated on the tracks between Sholoshahar and Cantonment stations following heavy overnight rain.
Several scheduled shuttle services between Sholoshahar and the campus were subsequently cancelled or disrupted, causing inconvenience to students travelling to classes. The university also arranged buses to take stranded students from Sholoshahar to the campus.
CU Assistant Proctor Prof Md Kamrul Hossain said one shuttle had reached the campus and another was on its way.
Sholoshahar Station Master Md Main Uddin said the water had receded and shuttle services had resumed normally.
Meanwhile, the university had not taken any decision on suspending classes or examinations due to the heavy rain. Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mohammad Al-Amin said departments could take decisions based on attendance and the weather situation.
Acting Controller of Examinations Prof Momtaz Uddin Ahmed said no formal decision had been received regarding suspension of examinations, though individual departments have the authority to postpone their own examinations.
