Dear Sir,
Overloading has become a serious problem in Bangladesh’s road transport system. Carrying goods or passengers beyond a vehicle’s capacity not only affects vehicle fitness but also causes significant damage to roads and highways. Under excessive pressure, road surfaces peel off and large potholes develop, increasing the risk of accidents and reducing road durability.
The problem is particularly common among trucks and buses. In the hope of earning higher profits, many transport owners and drivers carry more goods or passengers than the permitted limit. Excessive passengers can affect a bus’s balance and increase the risk of mechanical faults. Similarly, overloaded trucks can lose control, overturn and fall into ditches, often causing loss of life.
Therefore, strict enforcement of the law, regular vehicle inspections and greater awareness among drivers and owners are essential to curb overloading. Ensuring safer roads requires immediate and effective action against this dangerous practice.
