Online transfer applications for MPO teachers open today

Online applications for transfers of teachers at MPO-listed private schools and colleges will open today (Friday) and remain open until August 27.

According to a notification signed by Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (DSHE) Director (Secondary) Prof Md Sakhawat Hossain Khan, each teacher can apply to a maximum of three institutions in order of preference.

Applications will be automatically verified through software under the transfer policy, after which the authorities will issue transfer orders.

Teachers can apply for a transfer to their home district. If no suitable vacant post is available there, they may apply to any district within their division. They can also apply to the district where their spouse is from or works at a government, semi-government, autonomous or MPO-listed educational institution.

Teachers become eligible to apply for a transfer after completing two years in their current post. After joining a new workplace, they must serve there for at least two years before becoming eligible for another transfer.

However, teachers whose MPO status has been suspended, who are temporarily suspended from service or who face criminal cases are not eligible to apply.

DSHE said applications containing incomplete or incorrect information will not be considered. Institution heads and applicants will be held personally responsible for errors in submitted information.

Under the guidelines, institution heads must release transferred teachers within 10 days of the issuance of a transfer order. Teachers must join their new workplace within 10 days of being released.

The applications will be processed under the revised transfer policy issued on May 6, 2026. The revised policy also allows principals, vice-principals, demonstrators and trade instructors, along with assistant teachers, lecturers and assistant professors, to transfer to equivalent posts at other institutions.

This is the fourth transfer policy issued for MPO-listed private school and college teachers. Earlier policies had limited the scope of transfers.

The latest policy follows several revisions since 2024, gradually expanding transfer opportunities to more categories of teachers.
