Over four lakh examinees applied for re-scrutiny of their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exam results across 10,56,455 answer scripts, the Dhaka Education Board said.
Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Secretary S M Kamal Uddin Haider disclosed the information on Tuesday (August 18).
He said 4,02,051 students submitted applications to recheck 10,56,455 theoretical answer scripts along with 2,31,471 practical papers, bringing the total number of scripts under review to 12,87,926.
The official added that the date for publishing the re-scrutiny results has not yet been determined.
The SSC and equivalent exam results were published on August 10, showing an average pass rate of 62.25 per cent, the lowest in 19 years, with 6,90,608 students failing the examinations.
Application submission ran from August 11 to Monday via a dedicated website under the Education Ministry's IEIMS project, with a fee of Tk 150 per paper.
According to board data, the Dhaka Board received the highest number of applications from 94,236 examinees for 2,77,665 papers.
Among other general boards, 39,798 students applied for 1,14,706 papers in Chittagong, 39,762 students for 98,710 papers in Rajshahi, 37,296 students for 89,286 papers in Dinajpur, 35,929 students for 91,494 papers in Cumilla, 28,862 students for 74,717 papers in Jashore, 20,782 students for 50,710 papers in Sylhet, and 17,283 students for 50,293 papers in Barishal.
In addition, 20,307 candidates under the Madrasa Education Board applied for 34,305 papers, while 27,676 vocational examinees under the Technical Education Board applied for 71,066 papers.
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon previously announced at a press conference on August 10 that the answer scripts of applicants will undergo full re-evaluation rather than mere rescrutiny.
