Measles kills three more, infects 928

Three more children died of measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, from 8am Thursday to 8am Friday, taking the total number of deaths from the disease and its symptoms to 928 since March 15.

Meanwhile, 940 were affected by measles and measles-like symptoms during the same period. Of them, 64 were diagnosed with measles, while 876 showed measles-like symptoms.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) revealed the figures in its measles-related report released on Friday.

Three children have died in the last 24 hours, one each in Dhaka, Sylhet and Khulna divisions, due to measles symptoms, However, there are no deaths related to measles at this time.

Since March 15, a total of 829 deaths have been reported among people with measles-like symptoms, while 99 people have died after being diagnosed with measles, according to the DGHS.

Data from the health directorate showed that 147,591 have developed measles-like symptoms since March 15 this year. During the same period, measles was diagnosed in 18,208, bringing the total number of people affected by measles and measles-like symptoms to 165,799.

Since March 15, a total of 128,825 people with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals, while 124,558 patients have been discharged.
