Invited guests have started entering Bangabhaban to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at 7:30 PM on Friday at the historic Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Guests began arriving well ahead of the scheduled time.
Security measures have been intensified around the main gate and adjacent areas of Bangabhaban ahead of the ceremony. Additional police personnel were deployed on the roads leading to the presidential palace. Law enforcement officers are verifying the identities and invitation cards of guests at the entry points.
Invited dignitaries began arriving one after another from the afternoon.
The ceremony will be attended by the Prime Minister, cabinet members, Members of Parliament, diplomats, political leaders, and prominent personalities from various professions. According to Cabinet Division officials, over 1,200 guests have been invited to the event.
Meanwhile, all preparations inside the Durbar Hall have been completed. President’s Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam confirmed that all arrangements were finalized and the Cabinet Division is conducting the event.
Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani will conduct the swearing-in ceremony. Acting Speaker of the National Parliament Kayser Kamal will administer the oath to President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
Earlier, after Jummah prayers on Friday, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid his respects at the graves of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia at Chandrima Udyan in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Special traffic arrangements were put in place around Bangabhaban and surrounding areas. Law enforcement and traffic police members remain deployed to maintain security and keep traffic movement smooth.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will officially assume office as the President of the country through the oath-taking ceremony on Friday evening.
