366 more hospitalised with dengue

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported that another 366 people have been hospitalised with dengue across the country in last 24 hours.

However, no deaths from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease were reported in the 24 hours from 8am on Thursday.

According to the DGHS bulletin issued on Friday, 60 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation areas, while 55 were admitted in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation. Another 21 patients were admitted to hospitals outside the two city corporations in Dhaka.

Among other divisions, eight patients were admitted in Barishal, 97 in Chattogram, 75 in Khulna, 38 in Mymensingh, six in Rangpur and six in Sylhet.

According to the DGHS, 77 people have died of dengue so far this year, including 23 deaths in August alone.

From January 1 this year, a total of 27,388 people have been hospitalised with dengue across the country, of whom 25,399 have recovered and been discharged, the DGHS said.

The DGHS has been maintaining records of dengue hospitalisations and deaths since 2000. The highest number of hospitalisations�"321,179�"was recorded in 2023, when the disease also claimed a record 1,705 lives.
