Water in the Khoai River is flowing above the danger level at the Ballah station in Habiganj, while moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast in Sylhet, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Chattogram divisions and adjoining upstream areas over the next three days.

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) said this in its latest rainfall and river situation report issued on Monday.

According to the report, a low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas has moved northwest and is now located over Gangetic West Bengal, adjoining northern Odisha and the northwest Bay of Bengal.

Water levels in the Manu River in the northeastern Sylhet region rose over the past 24 hours.

In Chattogram division, water levels in the Gomti and Selonia rivers remained stable, while those of the Muhuri, Feni, Halda, Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers fell. All these rivers are currently flowing below the danger level.

The Brahmaputra remained stable while the Jamuna rose over the past 24 hours. Jamuna’s water level may fall over the next two days and remain stable for the following three days, with the river expected to stay below the danger level.

Water levels in the Ganges-Padma rivers also rose over the past 24 hours and may continue to rise for the next five days, though they are expected to remain below the danger level.

Meanwhile, water levels in the Surma-Kushiyara rivers fell and may decline further over the next day before remaining stable for two days.
