Major reshuffle in top police tier

The government has made a major reshuffle in the top tier of the police administration by transferring 17 senior officers to new positions.
Key changes have been made in crucial positions across RAB, DMP, PBI, CID, SB, APBn, and Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
The transfers were issued through three separate notifications signed by Deputy Secretary Tausif Ahmed of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday (August 25).
According to one notification, PBI DIG Md Humayun Kabir has been transferred as Additional Director General (DIG) of RAB. Police Staff College Additional DIG Md Humayun Kabir has been transferred to Police Headquarters.
Besides, Railway Police Additional DIG Md Tofael Ahmed Mia has been appointed Joint Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). APBn Superintendent of Police Nazmul Alam has been transferred to DMP. SB Additional Superintendent of Police Md Rezaul Karim has been attached to APBn and Specialized Training Centre in Khagrachhari.
In another notification; SB DIG Mu. Mahbubur Rashid has been appointed Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG). DMP Deputy Commissioner Aslam Uddin has been transferred as Superintendent of Police to Police Headquarters.
Additionally, Noakhali PTC Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nurul Amin has been attached to the Khagrachhari APBn and Specialized Training Centre.
The same notification cancelled a previous order issued on December 11, 2025, which had transferred DMP Joint Police Commissioner Mohammad Kamruzzaman as Additional DIG to Police Headquarters. It also cancelled an order issued on May 5 transferring DMP Deputy Police Commissioner Mullick Ahsan Uddin Sami as Narail Superintendent of Police.
In the third notification, nine officers holding the rank of Superintendent of Police were transferred. APBn SP Md Shahadat Hossain and SB Special SP M K H Jahangir Hossain have both been transferred as SPs to PBI. RPMP Deputy Police Commissioner Md Abdur Rahman has been made PBI SP, while PBI SP Md Zafar Hossain has been transferred to CID.
Furthermore, PBI SP Md Abul Kalam Azad was transferred to the In-Service Training Centre, Commandant of Gazipur In-Service Training Centre S M Sirajul Huda was transferred as Commandant of Jhenaidah In-Service Training Centre, PBI SP Muhammad Khaled-Uz-Zaman was moved to CID, PBI SP S M Rafiqul Islam was transferred to APBn, and Sylhet SMP Deputy Police Commissioner Md Riazul Kabir was attached to the office of the Rangpur Range DIG.
