Dhaka was drenched by welcome showers on Wednesday morning, bringing much-needed relief to residents after several days of oppressive heat and frequent load-shedding.
Rain began in Mirpur and several other parts of the capital shortly after 6:30AM. The sky remained overcast across the city.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department had forecast rain in Dhaka and its adjoining areas the previous night.
The persistent muggy heat, compounded by power outages over the past several days, had made daily life increasingly difficult for city residents. The morning showers have therefore brought a noticeable sense of relief.
