'No crime went unpunished in 6-month'

There has been no crime in the last six months that police failed to act against or bring under the law shortly after it was committed, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has claimed, describing it as a major achievement of the current government.
He made the remarks while attending a doa and munajat organised at the BNP central office at Nayapaltan on Wednesday to mark Eid-e-Miladunnabi.
Praising the law enforcement agencies, the home minister said the morale of the police and other security forces was fragile when the government assumed office.
"Over the past six months, efforts have been made to restore their confidence, and they are now working with full strength to combat crime."
Salahuddin Ahmed said those responsible for the Rangpur incident were brought under the law within a reasonable timeframe following the incident.

He said the government had also facilitated the completion of judicial proceedings within a shorter timeframe where necessary and in line with public demand.
