Sagar-Runi murder case report delayed for 129th time

A Dhaka court on Thursday deferred the submission of the investigation report in the Sagar-Runi murder case for the 129th time, setting September 30 as the new date.


The investigation was initially conducted by police and later handed over to the DB and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). After years of failure to resolve the case, the High Court last year ordered the formation of a high-powered task force comprising experienced investigators from different agencies and directed that the investigation be completed within six months.

The task force, headed by the PBI chief, was formed by the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry on October 17 last year.

Eight people have been named as accused in the case. One is on bail, while another allegedly absconded after securing bail; the remaining accused are in jail.
