The Memory’s Tide

Some memories remain awake and deep,
Within the heart’s unending, restless sea;
Some sorrows stay as silent vows to keep,
Engraved in stone for all eternity.

Some memories are hidden in the mind,
Like secret drawers where quiet shadows stay;
Some fleeting faces leave a trace behind,
A gentle mark that never fades away.

Some words break down the inner home in grief,
While others offer warmth and tender grace;
Some voices make us long without relief,
And bring back sorrow time cannot erase.

Some eyes are like a river’s surging tide,
That overflows the banks and rushes free;
Some feelings live and walk right by our side,
Enchanted by a phantom mystery.

Some silences accumulate and grow,
Beneath the shade of words we never spoke;
Some restless burning sets the soul aglow,
And consumes the heart in silent, quiet smoke.
